WELCOME TO INTERACT 5170

August 16, 2010 |  by Nikita  |  News  |  No Comments  |

Welcome Interactors and Rotarians to Interact 5170, the biggest and the most recognized Interact District in the world. In our district we offer a multitude of opportunities that involve building leadership skills, making new friends, giving back to our local as well as global community and having fun! We understand the importance of building future leaders and the value of participating in social service. We’re extremely excited for this year to make it bigger, better, and bolder. This year we plan to help build communities through community service and bridge continents via our international project. We plan to go above and beyond our already great heights and we cannot wait to have you join us on our Interact journey. We’re thrilled to have youth participation whether or not you are in our district because our district is all about embracing others, inspiring the uninspired, and experiencing something we like to call “Interact Love”. So this year we invite you to interact; embrace every opportunity, cherish every moment, and lead by example.  We will make a difference, are you ready?

Peace, Love, & Interact,

Nikita&Sophia

Interact for Safe Water

May 12, 2010 |  by Timmy  |  News  |  No Comments  |

From day one, we set our minds at raising $50,000, skeptical about our ambitions and hoping to alleviate their fears of contracting deadly waterborne diseases. Last year, D5170 contributed over $80,000 to fund BioSand water filters in Dominican Republic. Today, we see these filters, engraved with “Interact District 5170″ on them, ready to be shipped and distributed. The container of filters is scheduled to arrive in the DR on May 24 and
Good Samaritan hospital is set to recieve the filters. You may think that this is simply a name imprinted on a filter, but let me tell you, this is a representation of us and our endeavors as Interactors in making a difference in the world. As we look back, we will be reminded of long hours of service, fundraisers, and fun that had gone into this project. But along with that, we will remember that we came together to do something meaningful, to brighten up an someone’s life, and to do what we do best, “Service Above Self.”
Thank you for putting your heart into this outstanding project.
